Experience
Over 20 years professional experience working as an Art Director, Graphic Artist and Illustrator, mainly freelance. Extensive experience working with clients from concept to completion. Knowledgeable in industry standard graphics software including: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver. I also work in Microsoft Office. Projects include: publications, illustration, logo design, posters, flyers, brochures, and website design.

My personal interests have always been strong in advocacy and civil rights. Currently working on a case with an Educational Advocate on behalf of a young student to assure he receives proper support. I am also working to provide students with safe school facilities and election reforms.

Leatherneck Steakhouse Restaurant. Designed logo which is used extensively on promotional items. Designed menus.

A&E Low Vision, Livermore, California Website maintenance for low vision products.

Kautz Ironstone Vineyards, Murphys, California
Created P.O.S. materials, shelf talkers, bottle-neckers and table tents, used nationally. Designed a presentation package, menus, ads and flyers, for this large winery and special event facility.

Northern California Real Estate Journal, San Francisco, California
Art Director of Tabloid, published every two weeks with a separate insert once a month.

Healthline Magazine, Menlo Park, California
Art Director for this 16 page, 2 color monthly magazine.

DuoType, Typesetting and Graphics, Palo Alto, California
Freelanced as the Art department for 10 years. Worked on a variety of projects for many companies.

Addison-Wesley Earth Science, A textbook for high school level, published by Addison-Wesley Publishing Company. For this project I created approximately 65 full color illustrations, executed in watercolor and airbrush.

Addison-Wesley Life Science, A textbook for 7th grade, published by Addison-Wesley Publishing Company. For this project I created about 60 full color and 6 black and white illustrations.

Women's Health Care: A Guide to Alternatives, published by Prentice Hall. For this book I drew about 30 Anatomical line and halftone illustrations.

Advocacy History

School Board Candidate Campaign,
San Pablo, California, 2008

Designed, created campaign materials and display advertising for Antonio Medrano, School board candidate and retired teacher. Worked as support person to help create a winning multi-faceted campaign with a conservative budget. Our competition had over $85K more in funding, mainly from out-of-district interests, and could afford to do multiple direct mail pieces. We had limited funds, under $10K, we could not afford to send out any direct mail pieces. PS: My candidate(s) won

Community Activist,
West Contra Costa, California, 2007-2008

Researched seismic and structural problems with schools in district. Worked with lawyers referred by ACLU to file Williams complaints for life safety issues for two schools. Collected documentation and have written an abundance of letters. Cross referenced emails to document that officials have knowledge of seismic issues. Two three-story concrete middle schools were identified by WCCUSD in 1999 with a high probability of collapse during an earthquake on the Hayward Fault. Four Bond measures and a billion dollars later these two schools have students and staff in them.

Trustee Area Petition,
West Contra Costa, California, 2007-2008

Created collateral materials and worked on this petition drive. We collected over 1,700 signatures and seemed to have the support of the voters. The CCCOE, Contra Costa County Office of Education denied our petition, they said it would create voter confusion if placed on the Nov. 4, 2008 ballot.

Manzanita Charter Middle School,
Richmond, California, 2007-2008
I am the Board Chair of this diverse and successful school. We have strong parent participation. Designed 3 panel brochure, event poster and collateral materials. Maintain Manzy.org website.

PTA, Executive Board member
West Contra Costa, California, 2003-2006

Vice President of Communications, Parliamentarian. Created a school e-tree and a website for elementary school, averaging 17,000 hits per month.
